…we do it for the UCLA and Los Angeles communities, for international competitions, and for the fans. The Scattertones are a co-ed group of students that make their way by the rhythm of their own beat-boxer to produce vocals-only entertainment opulence. With every arrangement coming from a member of the group, you'll never know what'll hit the mic next. Having opened for Obama and rocked CAF, Spring Sing and the ICCAs, we are always out and about. So audition, come out for a show, pencil us in, and Blink for the black and pink. Check our Events page to find out where you can see us next!
2009 CARA Awards! Our very own Melinda Porto was selected for the Best Soloist award! Also, Always Be My Baby was runner-up for Best Mixed Song! The ScatterTones were nominated for three 2009 Comtemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. Nominations included Best Mixed Collegiate Album (Blink), Best Mixed Song (Always Be My Baby) and Best Mixed Collegiate Solo (Melinda Porto).
Blink Album ReviewOur newest album Blink was recently reviewed by RARB (The Recorded A Cappella Review Board) and we received an impressive 4.0 (out of 5) by three reviewers. We are very proud of Blink and would like to thank James Cannon, Ed Boyer, Tat Tong and Bill Hare for their work on the album and RARB for reviewing it! “I was resigned to listen to yet another Brown Eyed Girl, but the Scattertones' interpretation is unlike any other that I have heard. They slow it down and take it minor — I'm not surprised it was selected for BOCA...I expect that purchasers will not be disappointed with what they hear.”
-Guang Ming Whitley
“If I ever went to a collegiate karaoke competition, I would not want to compete against the Scattertones...In dedication, originality, and raw talent, the Scattertones are at the top of the class”
-Tom Czerwinski
“The Scattertones are stacked with talented performers. Blink showcases many strengths and many great selections. It's definitely one to buy and enjoy.”
